Finding a way to accelerate transformation

How Knowledge Conference Changed Our Vision of the Future

Daniela says there was an appetite for change within the business, but until that moment it was not clear how it could be achieved consistently and at scale.
The Knowledge conference changed everything.

“We were impressed by the possibilities. We had never considered ServiceNow as a platform, connecting multiple systems. We could see how digital workflows could transform the future of work, and that ServiceNow was much more than a ticketing tool.”

Gaining followers for digital workflows
If Grupo Bimbo wanted to incorporate new business units into the Now Platform, Daniela knew that they would have to convince rather than impose adoption. To build confidence in ServiceNow, the decision was made to start by reinventing the way employees interact with IT.

“IT touches everyone: password requests, hardware, email. If we could transform workflows here, for 135,000 associates worldwide, we could demonstrate the possibilities of the platform to the widest possible audience,” Daniela explains. In a few weeks, the digital transformation team was flooded with requests from different business units to digitize more processes with ServiceNow. The challenge then was to prioritize projects based on their ease and impact. “We quickly demonstrated that ServiceNow could be a cost-effective, low-code option for a variety of use cases,” Daniela adds. “Then we started looking at projects that could have a local impact, but help establish a global framework.”

Perfecting production and overall quality.

Today, ServiceNow reaches almost all areas of the business. It is part of the onboarding process for new employees, brings clarity to production efficiency, and offers an audit trail around quality control. Perhaps the most significant implementation is in production processes. Following a suggestion from a plant in Spain, Grupo Bimbo began working on connecting the local ERP system. This allowed real-time visibility of what was happening at each moment, eliminating the need for employees to manually generate a report in Excel. The group has 208 production plants worldwide. “You can imagine how important this information is for a business of our size,” says Daniela. Quality control has also been incorporated into the Now Platform, strengthening processes across multiple departments. Today, Grupo Bimbo can check the exact status of each product in terms of nutrition and quality. “This information is essential for our business. Quality is everything,” says Daniela. GRUPO BIMBO

Reinvention and growth

“I find it exciting to work with ServiceNow. Each collaboration opportunity brings new learning about the possibilities,” explains José Antonio Parra, Vice President of Digital Transformation. “Just when you feel like you’re starting to take advantage of all of ServiceNow’s capabilities, new ones emerge. Digital tools and platforms are about reinventing and growing from originally modest ideas.”

Daniela states that the excitement generated during the initial visit to Knowledge has been fully justified thanks to the speed, flexibility, and simplicity of the Now Platform. The ability to move quickly and adapt locally will be key to maintaining momentum, especially as projects become more difficult to identify or more complex to implement.
“We are the largest baking company in the world. There are different regulations in different parts of the world and different languages to consider,” says Daniela, “but the fundamentals remain the same. ServiceNow, and our work in Mexico, will allow us to create a global framework with the ability to adapt locally.”
